You may have heard of Immigration’s PIC 4020 but what does it mean?
Public Interest Criteria (PIC) number 4020 is just one of numerous PIC’s that a visa applicant must pass to get a visa. PIC 4020 deals with applicants supplying false or misleading information/documents. It use to only apply to any visa application you had made in the past 12 months. As of Nov 18, 2017 it will apply to any previous visa application (granted, refused, cancelled or withdrawn) made by a person in the preceding 10 years. It use to result in a three year ban on re-applying for any visa but it has been rewritten to impose a 10 year ban on re-applying for any visa.
Challenging or seeking a waiver for a PIC 4020 finding is very difficult. If you think you may be facing this issue or indeed you have received a refusal or a ‘please explain’ from Immigration it would be very prudent to use the services of a Registered Migration Agent.

IMPORTANT UPDATE The Australian Senate has dis-allowed the 10 year ban and the law will revert to the previous 3 year ban for supplying false or misleading information/Documents
